Maryam, an Iranian emigré scientist in Toronto, is building a time machine to project memories. She hopes that this device will help her reconnect with her son Kasra, who died in a car accident. When a string of inexplicable murders hits the city, Maryam suspects Kasra’s ghost may be involved.
Then one day, Maryam survives an attack by an unseen force. With the aid of Maxine, an amateur spiritualist, Maryam uncovers that the true killer is Aaron, the person Kasra accidentally killed in his fatal accident. The vengeful Aaron, who mistakenly believes that Maryam was behind the wheel, is back with a hit list of people with names like Maryam’s.
To avert further killing, Maryam and Aaron need to communicate to Aron the truth about the accident and who the driver was. As Aaron dogs Maryam, he sees her loss and grows fond of her. Gradually, he becomes an invisible guardian angel, protecting her from a suspicious police detective and his gung-ho associates.
But as her urge to connect with her son intensifies, Aaron only sees one way to bring Kasra to her: to unite them in the afterlife.
